Weekends are worse!

Somebody told me I seem to be always on a vacation! Err, does my week day schedule even remotely resemble that of someone on vacation? I guess that's just me trying to see the brighter side of things, for which I should be appreciated I say.

I keep thinking may be I should learn to appreciate my alone time, because it is not long that I will be so. I am generally happy being alone, doing my stuff. I liked travelling alone, absorbing the culture, the history, sometimes I find too many in a group to be a nag, and my face gets tired to keeping a fake smile all the time. Which is why I generally prefer travelling with DH.

So the day I wrote this schedule, my schedule was a little different. My laptop crashed. Murphy's law, it crashed exactly at the time when I was supposed to hold a review with US team. I sat in fellow colleagues cube, and held the review from his laptop. I guess it worked really hard along with me, and it couldnt take it and just gave up. If I were a device I would have just gone to sleep as well.

Then I realized how dependant I am on this little thing to give me company while I am alone. I was away from work for 12 hours, left at around 7:30, and came to work at 7 in the morning. Slept for 7 hours in between, was on the road for an hour. That leaves 4 hours when I desperately missed this thing.

I went to the room, had had dinner at work, so I had nothing to do, except watch mindless TV. I watched Gilmore Girls and The West Wing in some channel. By 10 my eyes were begging to be shut. Woke up at 4:45AM tossed and turned around, having nothing else to do (!!), mulled over work related stuff, breathed in and out, slowly to reduce the stress and the million strands of thoughts in my head, waited for DH to call up and chatted with him for about 40 minutes before getting ready to work. Talking to DH is a stress buster. Gives me perspective. All this head rolling for a week, and then I will forget about it. Planning trips is always fun, with family, its the best. I keep reminding myself, this is temporary, I will be back home soon. I actually drank my Green tea, enjoying every sip. Usually I dont even remember drinking it while I am doing something on the laptop.Came to work at 7 even though I knew the guy who can fix my machine would come in only at 8:30. Roamed around, played Pool alone for sometime. Yes, apparently our offices in all countries except US look nice and dandy. Then found a desktop in Visitor's cube. My happiness knew no bounds. I immediately logged in. My laptop hard disk was swapped to another one and given to me by 9:30. So now I have a laptop with Hebrew letters as well. Do expect a post in Hebrew, as I learn a few words ;--P. After this small hiccup, life returned to normal - mechanical life.

Saw Arun's post on sleepy offshore calls early in the morning. After I came here, I have these calls with US team in the evenings starting at 6PM. Mostly I will have to talk for like 5-10 minutes and then just listen, or not listen. Sometimes we attend calls from the hotel room. Once there was this call at 10:30 in the night, which went on until 12. After the first half hour, which I attended conveniently in a fetal position ready to sleep, I dozed off. Once in a while I would pick the phone to see if they were looking for me. Then I would doze off. Now I know how people attend calls remotely. They just dont care. :--)

Now its weekend, its almost 11 in the morning. Debating on whether to go to work, or to work from the room, but the internet is terrible. I am done travelling. I think I have seen most of Israel except Eilat which I am not too keen on visiting. I just want to get back home.

21 days to go.

    SK,
why do you work almost 11 hrs a day? is that the norm or you do it bccos there is nothing better to do?

and your routine sounds soooooooo much like mine when HD and I were living apart-esp the wake up,the 10 min snooze .I still get that when he / I travel. totally with you on the dependency on the laptop.. esp while travelling..

You make me feel like crap. I don't work so hard!! :( Maybe because this is my first job, but don't know! Work during weekends and all!!

When the second semester ended I was so bored and more so because there was only the laptop screen to stare at. Would frown whenever we(roommates) returned from out to think the laptop is what we need to go back to.
