Lately, I am more reminded of how old I am, and how much older I am getting, how my 'prime days' are over, blah blah blah. I do believe, age starts showing in the face as well. Someone, I believe Booboosmama, commented about how Kareena lost a lot of weight but her face shows the age and it does not suit the rest of her. With age, now I do see the difference in the face. In the younger girls, I see a kind of freshness, palich look, which fades off with age. Anyway. So the past weekend I was all set to visit Nazareth and Galilee. I was down in the hotel lobby promptly at fifteen minutes past seven. The tour guy comes to pick up people from different hotels and takes us to a bus stand where the different buses depart to different destinations.
So the tour guy asks," Name please" As usual he raises an eyebrow at my last name, as it sounds Jewish. Then,"Where are you going?" "Nazareth" "Oh! Have you been to Jerusalem? That is a better place to visit" I say," Oh yes I did that two weeks ago" Then a short pause, and he looks back at me and goes," Your tour guide, is a young fellow, very smart" I just said "Oh ok", and thought why was he telling me this? I thought may be he will be a good guide with lot of good information to share with us. I was really excited about the trip for obvious reasons.
The guy pauses for a minute and then continues," You have a good chance, he is single" First it didnt strike me, what to make of it. I just blinked. "It can work out between you and him" he continued. Then I realized. Oh my god! He was trying to set me up! I stumbled for words and then they came. " I am married, I am happily married" I said, I have never felt so awkward in my whole life.
"Oh noooo, I dont believe you, really?" he asked. I was like," Yeah!" Then he said," You are what, 15, 16?!" !!!!!!!
What the?!!
I am of a decent height, and I am not thin. And as I said earlier I do really see signs of age on my face. What the heck should I make out of this?
I have my conclusion. I think once people reach age 50, they dont see much difference between a 17yr old and a 27yr old! ;--) That is the only explanation.
First the Reno dealers want to see I am 21 and now this!
Anyway then he went on to ask the usual questions, am I here for work, did I leave my husband home, how long is the trip etc etc etc. Only on such occasions it really hits me. That it really is a big deal to leave DH and live alone in a foreign country.
This is the longest I have not seen DH since we got married. Of course, before we got married, we have lived with phone lines being our life lines, not seen each other for over a year and all that. The first longest after wedding was 3.5 weeks, before our trip to Europe. Now its been 5 weeks. I have been stressed more than usual, feeling a tad lonely, back to my cocoon, with no one to pamper me. ;--( I know some things should never be taken for granted, but with routine and monotony comes taking for granted. I will always cherish DH's company, it is afterall the most precious thing I have.
If flights are on time and fly safe, this time tomorrow, I will be in my safest, coziest, most comfortable, happy place, by DH's side.
And thats the reason for such a sappai post, I wont post for the next few days. :--)
PS: I am not done with Israel yet, have a few more weeks to go. DH is visiting for a week! The things I make him do. ;--) |

Normally women would blush, smile, giggle and prompt to hear that again by saying "Oh really?!! dont lie!!" when somebody asks them if they are 15 or 16 when they in reality would be 15 or 16 more than 15 or 16. You indeed are different. And have a safe trip back home :)

Honestly, this is what happened. I read the full post. I don't remember the P.S. though.
In any case I then took a quick look at the comments. Then, I saw a comment which said welcome back.
I thought I missed that part. So I also said welcome back.
