Progress Report March 09
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
Its been so long since I blogged. Its not like I have nothing to write, I have been a little busy and occupied, waiting for a few 'brain waves' to come by. as I said, thoughts are many, time is but limited. But I dont want to stop writing my Progress Report, which is more an indicator to myself, and a reminder to self to not lose focus. Somedays you just get so involved in the everyday rut of life, you miss to understand how things fit in into the bigger picture.
Anyhoo. I am still pressed for time, but I will try to keep it short and sweet. My one month habit, planning my every week, is going good, I havent totally faltered and at the same time I have not had any miracles.

I had a real challenge to my Positive thinking habit this month around. I guess these are the times when you are really tested. You can read all the books and do everything you can, but how much you have learnt will be determined by the true test of situation.
I have been more under pressure lately than in the previous months, I never had an opportunity to procastinate. I liked this. Like its only when you have a lot of time, do you procastinate. When you dont have much time in hands, I dont find myself procastinating. So the key to overcome procastination is to keep oneself busy. But also, one should remember to keep busy with meaningful actions, not time fillers.

I have had a real challenge with worry this time around too, but all the books that I have read and this whole exercise of keeping track of my attitudes, is helping me big time. I realize I still have a long way to go! But I kind of like it, like the challenge, that I have something to overcome, to conquer, to win. Life is still interesting.

Last month I got community work much earlier. Volunteered for the National Engineers Week. We had to form groups and go to local schools and educate the high schoolers about engineering, the whole deal of what it is, what it entails, why should one become an engineer, the perks. It was a super fun experience for me. I dont know if I knew what the job of an engineer entailed when I was in 8th grade. I wanted the experience to be a whole another post, I might write when I get some time. Actually I should write these are once in a lifetime experiences that have to be recorded. I might go again next year, but there is a first time, only once. I also got a new student to tutor, its quite an experience for me to be on the other side of the table. That also calls for a post, when I find some time.

I am trying to overcome some habits of mine which have been with me since childhood. Its not easy. But its challenging and interesting. Its amazing how even after you have finished your schooling and have a few years of work experience, you still realize you have such a long way to go! I thought finishing school and getting a job was the end of everything! :--)

Everything related to fitness is going well, some good milestones were met, although next month is the real challenge.

TV watching is still a killer.
Self control is still hanging by a thin thread.

These few months have changed me for the better.

Happy St Patrick's Day and all that. I believe people are really going overboard with celebrations. I mean, I can understand Thanksgiving and Halloween and Christmas, but really St Patricks Day? And we were supposed to were green, and there were prizes for the best costume. There is also beer at local pub. One good thing about celebrations is the food, of course, so I wont really complain. The Cafe was decorated with balloons, it was really festive at lunch, with free stuff given out.

PS: I dont know why I am sounding so serious, I think I am falling sick, may be thats why. What I thought were allergies is turning out to be different. I tell you its really a mammoth task to get yourself up to do stuff with the usual enthusiasm when your body doesnt cooperate. These dont count do they now?
As I got into the car, I was greeted with a stuffy warmth, that made my forehead cringe from the heat, as opposed to the many previous days when all I felt was shivering cold when I entered the car. Coincidentally, first day of this year, today I went to work without a jacket. Spring is here, I guess. :--)

Eh! Throw your TV out:). That should solve your problem.
