I have the urge to blog, I have some time in hand now, but I dont know what the heck to blog about. Its not like nothing is happening, lot of things are happening, but sadly none I can comfortably blog about in public space.

Keeping my fingers crossed that none of my colleagues at work come across this page, I dont think they would, they are too geeky to check out random blogs, I will continue writing.

There is this one person, who is very open and direct, according to himself. I think he is too outspoken. So outspoken that he irritates almost everyone. Me, ahem, being the epitome of patience, and er, also being the person who referred him to the job and got a bulky two grand in my pocket, have to put up with him, and also occasional taunts of why did I ever refer him for the job in the first place, from others. He is a Leo to give you an idea of his character.

We had a very nice group, a pleasant group with lots of fun and laughter. Since some of these guys got really pissed with his boisterous behaviour, they just started ignoring him altogether.

Result is I am stuck in between. :--(

Let me give you some examples that happened in the past few weeks. A friend I go for coffee with had gone to India for her wedding. And so I started going with this boisterous guy, lets call him S, for coffee. To be frank, I dont like obligations much. I mean everyone is busy with their own work, so I dont really go out of my way to wait for someone, nor do I expect someone to wait for me. I dont mind going down for coffee alone, if everyone is busy. Even with R, if I had a meeting I wouldnt ask her to wait up for me, and if she had a meeting I wouldnt wait for her. Its easy that way.

This guy starts making schedules like, I will come at 8AM lets go for coffee then. I mean thats okay, but in case, or suppose I forgot, or I had a meeting, or I was hungry earlier, and I went down, the sky doesnt fall right. He gets upset! And says see you left me and went for coffee!!

Thats not the end of it. This friend, R, who went to India is back this week. Now timings are different with her. And it is soo difficult to coordinate! I hate coordinating, of all things. I would happily go with what others have to do and tag along, escape from any organizing. I mean its just a coffee, doesnt need planning and organizing.
This guy calls me for coffee at 8, and the girl comes and calls me at 9!! :--(

Yesterday we had a business update meeting in a building all the way in the other end of the campus. Long walk. Someone called me and I just went. As I said earlier, nobody called our guy S, so apparently he had to walk alone to the location. I ask, what is wrong with that? If you have work, and cant go with the group, you just walk alone later whenever it is convenient right? This guy after the meeting comes to my cube and goes "See, no one called me, I walked all alone to the conf room all the way to the other building. " He kept saying that in his loud voice. First time I made a joke out of it by saying " Are you kid? Cant you go alone?" But he continued saying this when my boss was around too. I didnt know how to react. I IMed him saying it was okay to walk alone. I felt a little queasy.

I can understand he is feeling a little left out because of all these guys totally boycotting him. The thing is because I am going with this guy, I hope pray I wont be boycotted too.

Today afternoon this guy got into the bad books of R. S has a way of getting on your nerves and bugging the hell out of you. He irritates me too, but I kind of put up with it, mostly out of pity. So today I had to go down for coffee twice, once with R and once with S!! :--( Going for coffee takes a good chunk of time, and I cant do it twice!

I dont know how to solve this. I am thinking of aborting going down for coffee all together for a few days and then start over fresh again.

Talking of lighter issues, a colleague X of mine is a geeky weirdo. Yesterday I learnt that he has been passing days with contact lens on only one of his eyes. Can you imagine that? I thought I was lazy and procastinating. I am in my last pair of contacts and thankfully I have an appointment this Monday for the eye check up to get my new supply. Apparently he slept off with the contacts on, and one of them just popped out of his eyes at some point when he was asleep. Our boss, didnt bother to search for them. Naturally my next question was why didnt he just wear glasses? His answer astounded me. He didnt have a pair of glasses! LOL! I asked him what would he do if this only sole piece of lens, which is the very essence of his vision, he has a power of -4 on both eyes by the way, also gets lost?

I had asked him that yesterday. I think I kindled a new fear in his heart somehow. Today he came to my cube all happy and excited. He had made an appointment with his eye doctor for tomorrow! :--) He also sat down and took the time to tell me how he thought hard about my question the other day, and he has come up with a plan, just in case between then and the doctor's appointment his sole means of vision does get lost.

He would plead his roomie for a ride to work. He would pretend to work by crinkling his eyes and staring at the screen until afternoon. He would persuade the others to go to a much frequented restaurant, so that he would know the menu by heart and hence order what he wanted without difficulty. And then ask someone to drop him at the doctors place. When he is back from the doctors woohoo! he would have his full vision back.

I guess it didnt sound all that funny, but err.. you had to hear it from him to find it funny. :--D

I was surprised how he got an appointment so early. I had made my appointment almost a fortnight before. He said he called them up and said, he has only one lens in one eye and that he is having a hard time getting along in the day, and so he wanted an appointment as soon as possible!! Wow! Some story, this, after he has been living with one contact lens for almost six months!

He also started off with the story of how he selected his eye doctor in the first place, which is also funny I think. Again, he was in dire need of lens, he was on his very last pair. He takes a print out of all the doctors in his insurance plan, and calls them one by one.
"Hi do you have an appointment before this Friday?" . The ones who said no, were abandoned, and the one that said yes is his doctor now! LOL!! ;--)

*******

I pray hope the characters in this post do not chance upon this blog by mistake. I will be dead meat.

I want to write about a number of other things, probably later, not that anyone is waiting to hear it anyway.
