After spending a couple of hours with my parents one afternoon that I came early, they have decided to be happy, not broody. It is not easy for my worrying Dad but they are trying to change. My dad is surprised that I am so matured :--P that I have understood the purpose of life.
Last week was a full dopmanine fix, starting with the Geeky dinner followed by Thursday mid day movie in Los Gatos theater. The Dawn of the planet of the apes. While the movie was what I would call a super mokkai, I liked the concept of bunking work and spending time chatting and watching the movie with just the org in the theater. Following the movie boss and I found a cute little coffee place, French one, and had our 1:1 there.
Had a very effective meeting that night which actually reduced my work load. So there was reason to be happy.
Friday met Sachita for lunch :--) It is scary how my online identity is slowly merging with my real one. It was nice chatting with her, hope to keep in touch with her more often. Did I tell you how we met? We met on the shuttle to F town and I didnt know her real name or anything, and I kept talking about stuff and she figured out it was me. ;--) Waaah.
BSK is going for gymnastics classes. A huge success is her going to the Inch Worm classes alone. Since I havent talked about her in a long time, let me do it now. So I waited for BSK to turn three before enrolling her for her gymnastics class because under three seemed really babyish, sort of mommy and me classes. So in June I took her to the class, timing was bad, I took her almost 10mins late to the trial class and she got a bit flustered and just wouldnt go without me to the class. She can get superbly clingy. So the coach said she can try out the baby class again. I was a little disappointed. So next week we booked a trial class for the baby class. BSK had a blast. And that coach said she might get bored in this class and she should try the next class (which we tried first, ugh) So I put faith in BSK and enrolled her for the 3+year class.
I knew BSK has some starting trouble and once she really enjoys the class she will be fine. So for the class we went really early so she could get a chance to get to know the coach better and warm up a little. It worked perfectly. The class had some five parts or so and for major parts I could hang around close to her and she could see me. First was the obstacle course, she kept wanting to hold my hand, but at some point her enthusiasm for the course took better of her and she left my hand and held the coach's. Hallelujah! Second section was trampoline and pit at the end of the gym where parents are not allowed for this class. I tried hiding first thinking she will go for it, but she started fussing. So we decided to skip that part, and just watch the kids. Third part was the track jumping and swining on the rod which was closer to where the parents can watch so she did that tooo with no issues. So 2/3rd of the class she attended. Which was more than what I would call success in this matter.
But she loved the class totally. And the coaches who were basically 16 year olds said she was doing fine, phew! The next week, was even better, she even went to the far end trampoline and pit. She did come running back at one point when the coach tried to force her to do something in the pit. And I told she didnt have to do anything she doesnt like and she went off. It is soooo cute and a relief to watch her hold the coach's hand and walk away. 6 months ago that would never have happened.
This Friday was even better. She couldnt wait for the class to start. She was talking about it all morning. and in fact wanted to skip morning school and go straight to the gym. She had an almost private class at gym bcos the kids didnt show up. Friday evening 5PM is a bad time for the class but this is better than weekend class which warrants for more skipping.
Now she wants to get clothes like the other girls the gymnastics dress. And has also been asking to go for Ballet class. Ballet class was stopped when the teacher changed and she just refused to go into the class and wanted to go just to watch from outside. Thinking of trying the class again soon, cos cutsy girls in ballet clothes just melt my heart.
This has been a very lazy weekend. Went for A's son's birthday prty, where BSK had a lot of fun, and it was super nice to meet A and S and BA. :--) We went to church from there where BSK was a totaly rowdy, with another girl, both were running around screaming and playing.
Since grand parents have arrived BSK is in a different mode now, she is growing up, no longer the sweet innocent cuddly girl, more dominating and adament, and also turning on water works at a second's notice.
I am expecting this week to be a slow week. I am preparing something for a conference and I am super excited about it.
Just realized I have so much time now ;--) with no cooking. I am loving this. All this is going to end like a fuzzy dream when parents leave ugh. But I really want to make use of this time to the fullest. Hope to make good use of it. |
