| Influenced by Leo Babuta of Zen Habits, I tried one month of no processed sugar in May.
First three days were the toughest. I openned the pantry and it was full of stuff I couldn't eat. Honey nut Cheerios, gummies, plain chocolate, chia juice, cake, and what not.
Now I don't want to eat sweets. I don't have the temptation. I never had a thing for sweets, but over the years had started popping them here and there.
I gave in a few times in the month with planning.
I had BSKs birthday cake and cupcake. I tasted the cookies and cake pops I ordered for her. I had marshmallows when we went on our vacation last weekend. I didn't even enjoy them so much, ESP the cake stuff.
Some things I let myself have for my sugar cravings - fruits, raisins and honey. All natural sugar forms. Raisins were my evening sugar fix.
I gave up coffee. If I really needed caffeine, there were a few such times , I had black coffee!
I have lost about 4 lbs of which 2 is from no sugar I am sure.
So May is over. I will slowly introduce sugar but will definitely keep it in moderation, no cake and chocolates.
Now on to June. I want to give up white carbs. Rice, pasta etc. even potatoes. I never ate rice, but did have white bread at times. I will substitute with salads. I like this peanut dressing which I might get to make salads more interesting during the super hungry evening period. Will have to up chicken and fish.
Let us see how this goes.
Wish me luck!
This exercise is not to lose weight. But to reestablish my relationship with food. My cravings and hunger levels are much better with no processed sugar.
