Just ramblings, only a vent for emotions, feelings and all the good stuff

Bro is here

My brother is here safe. Yeh! The last few days have been fun, and busy and nostalgic, too many emotions in too few days.

After all the excitement and waiting finally I laid my eyes on my brother. He looked so paavam. Just like any scared kid from India coming for his studies in the States. It was a lot of fun telling him the ways of US. He got see and do things that I did not do until a year after I landed in the country.

Me and DH were like this matured couple hosting my brother. We bought things like sleeping bags, some utensils, groceries etc etc, and also went to roam around in SF. And I cooked for three people, instead of two. I am glad I get to increase the count one by one, first for myself, then for me and DH and now for me, DH and Bro.

It felt almost painful to drop him at the apt where he would be living on campus, with all his stuff on Sunday. I could almost feel part of the pain, if not all of, when parents leave their kids in hostel or something like that.

Me and my brother have been pampered rotten at home. I was Dad's pet and he was Mom's. It worked out very well. From things like bed coffee, and parents asking us to eat eat and eat, and not letting us do any of the household chores, we were like prince and princess of our little home. Suddenly, when I was left out to explore the world, I was in for a huge shock. I know my brother will go through the same and learn the ways of life the hard way. I want him to be more responsible, matured etc etc., though I am worried for him.

Yesterday I called him and he said he hadnt had breakfast or lunch, and my heart went out to him. I was worked up all night yesterday, wondering how he would cope up with the difficult life. But today it was nice to hear his upbeat voice, full of life and enthusiasm. Him being a Libran like DH, I am sure he will make good thick friends and gel in pretty soon, much unlike me.

Now that said, it was a little strange for me and DH to behave normally with a third person at home. If you know what I mean. We are so used to doing certain things in a certain way, like for example, Sunday afternoons we watch movies cuddled up on the couch, we couldnt do that. Even the way we talk to each other, we had to mind our words.

Visiting bro's campus brought back loads of memories of UW days. We had a beautiful campus, strewn all over the city, loaded with amazing old buildings, and new buildings, and awesome scenic places. As I think about it, I really did not realize what a beautiful campus it was until I left that place. I wish I could write about it, and post some pictures, may be next post will be that.
