Ticket ticket

After a sumptuous Valentine dinner at the Cliffhouse, of pasta and lasagna topped off with chocolate fudge cake, we were driving back home talking non stop about the exciting long weekend ahead, when I saw a tiny blue flickering light in the rear view mirror. There were two yellow lights at just the right distance for me to think there belonged to the headlights of a car, so I was pretty confused by the blue light on top of the yellow light. When the realization hit me, my hands went stark cold, and my heart started palpitating.
While at the green light close to Walmart, I took a right and was about to park, when the cop asked me to pull into the parking lot of Walmart, through his mike. By now I had that paavam innocent look on my face, ready to cry if at all I was given a ticket.

There were two cops in two bikes. One came forward to my window and asked me to pull down my window.
"Ma'am can I see your driving license, insurance card and vehicle registration please?"
I took my license and gave it to him while DH rummaged the glove compartment for the other copies. I slowly mustered up some courage, put on the look of a very innocent girl, 'indha poonaiyum paal kudikkuma' look, and asked, " Was I speeding?" I thought I was driving within speed limits, one cannot speed in the ever winding roads of my little city.
"No ma'am, you seemed to drive a little zig zag on the road crossing the yellow line in the middle at times."
"Oh! The road was very winding and it was dark and difficult to see, I am new to this.."
He didnt let me complete my white lie.
"You just have to follow the line ma'am, always be on the right side of the yellow line"
"Yes, ok."
"You have a good night ma'am"

A huge relief flooded my face. I cant get another ticket and increase insurance premiums by another 300 bucks now.

I was parked in an angled spot. The cops were standing right behind the car. Now how was I supposed to pull out and leave? Any other time I would have just gone straight onto the spot opposite and turned around, but with the big lecture about 'not crossing yellow lines' I was not going to do just that right under the cops' noses. So I put the car in reverse gear, went right at the cops, when the guy showed 'stop' with his hand, came to my window and said, " The road is all yours in front of you ma'am"
Yeah right!!
I had all of the left lane to myself when I just went an inch to the left of the yellow lane there, and he thought I was drunk and followed me, and now he is being sarcastic and asks me to cross the very same yellow line.

Narrow escape I would say. I believe that if it had been DH behind the wheels and we had been caught he would have gotten a ticket. Thank god for women drivers huh.
Our hypothesis is that, being the beginning of a long weekend, the cops were looking for drunk drivers. Thank God we didnt decide to start off the dinner with wine.
