When: Saturday Who: SK, K, SK's Mom, Dad, MIL, FIL Where: South Lake Tahoe
9AM: Drive to Tahoe - Winding US50 threatened MIL a bit. 11AM: Heavenly Gondola Ride - Much more exciting that I thought it would be. Its amazing how we find things to do in Tahoe inspite of visiting the place for the sixth time or so. 12:30: Lunch at Observation Deck - Truly heavenly. Lemon rice and vaazhakka poriyal with blue Tahoe at the background. The cherry on the top was being with family of course. Signature pics with Tahoe in the background taken. 1:30: Post lunch hike - With caps forgotten, MIL, Mon and Dad dropped out, as it was too hot to walk. Self, K and FIL walked a bit but it was not scenic or anything so came back midway.
 2:30: (Fake) Rock/Wall Climbing - Most exciting part of the trip for me. Mainly because I never thought I would finish it, inspite of the fact that even five year olds do it. The time on the wall, raced my heart rate and gave me sore limbs. So I can carry my whole weight on my hands and legs, truly a revelation. (Beware, comments about how kiddish we are will not be entertained.) 3:30: Harrah's Casino - A little glimpse of gambling to parents before visiting the big ticket Vegas. MIL thought only gundas and rowdies gamble. We shouldnt tell her about the Reno escapade, she will change all the good opinion she has of us. 5:00: Zephyr Cove beach - It was too late to rent a boat, so just lazed around in the beach, played in the water a little, ate some fruits and snacks 6:30: Drive back home - Uneventful. Enjoyed the sloping winding roads, as always, it was like driving in a car race game. |

Rock climbing is truly fun - I did this as part of a team building activity at work early this year and loved it. Never really thought I would finish the climb and so was quite thrilled.
Lemon rice and vazhaikkai curry - that sure sounds heavenly :)

Nice... Your post was just in time.. Thanks We've planned a trip to Tahoe for the next weekend. But not a big crowd. Just the two of us. Do you have any other expert tips on what to do/see over at Tahoe?

Hi ,
I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be very good.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘Ramblings Only’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;
BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!
This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)
Cheers,
