Ramblings Only

Business at stake, millions of dollars they say. I had to present to someone who is high up there, reporting to the big guy. Me I am in the dark, struggling to meet my deliverables, when I am sucked into this. Like a blind man directing the orchestra. Some folks are clueless, including me. Some folks put pressure on  people unfairly. What is fair by the way? I know the person I am covering for would have pushed back vehemently and succeeded. But me being me and without all the background have to ramp fast and execute. 

Out of Office back up is also Out of Office. And the back up for him has no clue what is going on. I never believed someone can be truly missed when they are on vacation. And don't believe in disturbing people on vacation. But, I have already called the people I am covering for twice when they were sitting on the beach enjoying lunch. And I am pushing someone to bug another guy on vacation. Because it is millions of dollars. Customer is threatening to close business yes!. I say so many people on vacation! I need one too! After this nightmare of a week! And I am not even in this project anymore. Lesson learnt , never cover for someone without knowing the full extent of what you are getting into. One person cheated me into covering for him. 'Just do one thing', and there is a 100 things buried under.

So far I have spent 40% on coverage 1, 40% on coverage 2 and 20% on my job, my bread and butter, which by the way is on fire too. I need to get some relationships right, because they think our team is over stretched and pulled into different things. I like it, but it is exhausting.

Then I hear a good friend does not have a job anymore. I stop complaining. 

I pray she gets something soon.
