Ramblings Only

Dealing with dollars excites me. This one time when I saved 5 million dollars for the company it felt amazing. Now I am not kidding but we talk in billions. Grass itching.

All the stuff that I used to zone out as an engineer when talking about are what I have to deal with on a day to day basis. Give me facts, I used to think, and now I have to read inbetween the lines and step over grey areas where is no one right or wrong (along with getting the facts)

Critical reasoning in real life. Decision making based on facts in real life. Two things that I really need to work on. Strategic thinking and persuading stakeholders and execs with not only facts but points that they care about. In real life!

Finance! I deal with numbers, don't work on them but do analysis, watch trends and make inferences. Only to realize numbers are malleable too and can be manipulated to look as we would like. I change product roadmaps based on numbers. 

Convince executives on why we should certain things a certain way. Last week was the first time I presented to a VP for work work not Women initiatives or Kenya or mentoring. A freshly minted marketing person still getting used to the umpteen acronyms - TAM, MSS, SPP to name a few. 

Re learning the power of powerpoints. How to make convincing, attractive ;--p, intuitive powerpoints. I suck big time at it.

The beauty of this role is that I get plenty of action with engineering too. Bleeding edge technologies and super high priority issues. 

Ladies and gentlemen, SK is in her dream job, a job that looked impossible to get 5 years ago! Now I have to think of my next dream job.
