My iPod died on me. And I am sad. Yesterday I dug into my shelves to locate the CD player I had shunned more than two years ago, prayed it would last for a gym session and set forth to the gym. I cannot workout if I dont have music. Most of the times its the music that keeps my enthu for workouts. I was glad that it still played after so long, although I was worried about how long the batteries would last. Good old days when you had to spend all those dollars on batteries. Reminded me of the many many days I have walked to and from school to my apartment, in rain and snow and sunshine, my ears plugged with the phones, listening to the few CDs I had brought from India a full five years ago, the songs giving me a feeling of being closer to home. I used to be in my own world, singing to myself, dreaming sometimes.
I was proud to be one of the first to get the most popular of MP3 players of all times, the iPod, second generation, in my second month salary. I should say it cut more than I would have liked into my pay check. I loved it would be an understatement. I took it along with me wherever I went, it was my wallet, my cell phone and my iPod, with me, on me all the time. The free inscription I had on it was 'My first name - Queen of Pluto'. I guess the Queen did not do a good job, they demoted the planet from its planet status. Ok bad joke.
The Photo iPods followed, I think they were the fourth generation. DH got me a 60GB one, a dream come true for me, for my first birthday after the wedding. I flaunted it all I could. It is not all the time that I got free expensive stuff on bdays . 15hours of battery life was just way too good. It lasted so beautifully all day long during our three day long trip from East Coast to the West, covering the breadth of US. I philanthropically gave my old iPod to DH, since his non-iPod MP3 player was not working so great.
I never realized I would miss it so much, if I didnt have it. I feel all ancient to go to the gym with the huge CD player. My sleek iPod died on me. Boohoo! :--( DH has promised me that we would take it to the Apple service center over the weekend, if at all there is such a place near by, and get it revived. Keeping fingers crossed, and praying everything will be all right. I dont want to miss the little gift I got from DH, it is more than just a music player for me. Ok all right lets face it, it was too darn expensive and I had expected it to last atleast another couple of years before dying on me. My old iPod is three years old and still alive and kicking. This guy has no business dying so soon.
I am sad for another reason. Only days after booking flight tickets and hotel in Orbitz, which came about a 100 bucks over our budget, and we resolved to save up the extra money in the next months, I log in to my Corporate Perks website, to see that I would have gotten the same $100 off in Orbitz for the exact deal I made, with a promotion code. :--(( I have always been unlucky when it comes to money matters. I am so so sad. |
