Blogging has always been a vent for me. My frustration, sadness, happiness etc etc blah blah. Now since most of the stuff happening in my life is pertaining to work, given that one spends more than a third of one's life at work, and given that I cant talk about it, I really wish I could, my hands are tied and my mouth is gagged. :--(
We are few weeks from our deadline. There is tension all over our floor. They give balloons to folks who do a good job. Isnt it cool? Now we have balloons in a lot of people's cubes. Hope we make it on time. We really have to. After this is done, I will probably be free for a month or so. This is when all of us are supposed to take our accumulated vacations. We were not supposed to take vacations this whole year! Unless if it was for an important occasion such as wedding. So all my colleagues have already planned their India vacation, which is why I feel all the more home sick. But I guess its okay, since we might be taking a vacation in December, if our finances would allow us to.
A happy news. I got an award! :--))) I was soooooo happy yesterday. Lately I was having a lot of doubts about my own capability, I still do, :--(, but my confidence has been given the right boost.
Though I have been decent in studies, I never managed to do well at work. I mean, I was just this normal person, doing normal work. My work friends are all geeks, like one guy likes to write Perl scripts. He would write a script for just about everything. For example, when the World Cup was going on, the very first match was Costa Rica and Germany. Since we work with a lot of Costa Ricans, our whole team was invited to our managers place for the game, Friday morning. I didnt go, because I had a meeting. This guy was on IM. I messaged him, asking him why he didnt go to the game. He said, he was working on a script. I told him, script can wait the game will not. And he said, 'I find this more exciting!' :--) We still make fun of him for that.
Who finds work exciting?[Geeeeks] I like what I do, but I definitely wont prefer to be working, instead of watching a movie. I mean, no normal person would, I believe.
Each of them have a quality in them, that I like and would like to have. One guy, if he starts something, he will not leave work until he finishes it or gets to the bottom of it. It is so unlike me, my brain switches off at 6PM sharp, and I am out by 6:15.
Also not doing well at what I do, pulls my confidence level down to the dumps. I used to be in the dumps 24/7 when I was in my previous job. Every single day I had to drag myself out of bed. I used to be at a loss as to what to do after 5:30 in the evening. But I should be thankful for those years. I took to blogging, writing, and some romancing during my short stint at the so out of field job. Now time seems to be flying. I feel 5 days a week is just not enough! I also feel 2 days of weekend is not enough too, but thats a different story :--P
Anyways I am all happy and enthusiastic now, and will work harder and get the deadline out of the way! Motivation through rewards does give a payback :--D |
