Hightlights of the past weekend.
Met three friends in all. One is my Under Grad classmate and friend, T. Second is DH's childhood friend, and my blogger friend, Sparkie. Third is a special blogger friend and great writer Archana.
About meeting blogger friends, I had varied experiences with the two of them. With Archana, as she said, I didnt feel too alienated when I met her. In fact I felt like I knew her, much more than I would have known her had I known her from real life. Now there's a confusing statement. With Sparkie, though I have met him before like twice, once in College, and once at our wedding, I never got an opportunity to interact much with him. This time I did. I felt he is different in real life from what he is in virtual world. I find it very easy to form a strong connection with people in the virtual world, I kind of feel people dont hesitate to show their real self, so that would be their true self.
We were supposed to meet Archana and some other friends at 11AM in Saravana Bhavan. But as usual, and I blame T for this, since he is the only one who wouldnt be reading my blog, we were 45 minutes late for the meeting. Lazy as we are, none of us had noted down the phone numbers of any of the others we were going to meet. Archana, being the goody girl, called me at 11:35AM when we were filling gas about 10 min away from the rendevous place. Conversation went thus:
Me: Hello Archana: Hi, this is Archana here. Me: (a hesitant) Hey Archana: We are all waiting for you for a long time. Me: (OMG!) Yeah, we are on our way, we will be there in 10-15 mins. Archana: (I think she didnt believe me ;--)) Where are you guys right now? I told where we were and gave the phone to Sparkie so he could take any heat that was coming our way. ;--)
But of course, when we met, she was very sweet. I am generally very anxious and awkward and conscious around people I meet for the first time, but I felt really at home around her. No wonder she has sooo many great friends. :--)
Now a little about the trip itself. I was doing this Big Sur CA1 trip for the fourth time, and the beauty has never failed to amaze me. I know, I know, the West coasters have seen them a million times, these pictures are for the rest of you. ;--)

I loved Carmel, and its small towny look, with expensive windows. SF is a whole new deal, I havent seen all of it, till now. We are seeing the city little by little as people visit us and we show the city to them. It rained all the time that we spent in SF, a big bummer. What else to do in rain, to sit inside, but eat! We went to Ghiradelli to have yummy icecream. We got the ponchos and umbrellas and continued to walk around, like rain couldnt stop us.
The weekend ended with us having yummy biriyani and chettinad chicken, made by T, a great cook, and myself respectively.
It felt weird to be all alone Monday morning, after DH left. :--( But its all part and parcel of life. No complaints. |
