.. fog, rather.
When : Saturday 23 May 09 Where : Mt Tamalpais What : Hike - Matt Davis Trail Round Trip from Pan Toll Road to Stinson Beach and back up Miles : ~8.5miles Elevation : ~ 2700ft
Points of note :
* Cannot trust DH to follow the trail. One fork and he diverted on to a wrong path that was so slopy that we had to slide and bump into trees, hold on to grass for fricton, and hang on to tree branches and swing like a monkey downwards. We then decided to wait for hikers to come by, and when none did, DH thought we might have trailed off the wrong path. As we traced back our steps, we realized we actually had. Quite an experience getting lost.
* The guy that recommended the trail said that foggy days spoil the hike. I was a bit bummed when the day turned out to be foggy. But heck, the fog made the mundane forest with huge trees, and the in between rolling meadows look so out of the world that yet another panoramic view of SF bay on a clear day didnt look as appealing.
* Masoor dhal rice makes for a healthy home lunch with all the protien too, compared to usual puliodharai, in between a strenuous hike.
* We surprise ourselves with courage and energy, when time calls. Our real capabilities truly astound us when the time is right.
* Lesson learnt - Never NEVER go to SF area without a jacket. Never trust DH to determine if shorts and tee are adequate protection for a 66F SF weather. Both of us were shivering in cold! Only for some time though, once we started hiking uphill, we felt warm again.
