Ramblings Only

Just ramblings, only a vent for emotions, feelings and all the good stuff

Every dog has its...

There are so many things that I should be doing now (going over the list one more time in my head as I write this), but here I am on the blogger page, finding a way to pour out all the stuff in my head.

I need to find some order in my life, for now I am just reacting to circumstances rather than moving with a plan. Things are shoved on my face, mercilessly and I barely have time to react. Every week, Sunday evenings, just like this one, I try to start afresh, to hold on to life with a new set of reins. But before Friday comes the rein is lost, and the carriage of life seems to have gone in which ever way the wind blew. You get the drift? I can exactly understand what they mean when some say "life is out of control"

So here I am, skipping and postponing the many tasks that I could be doing right now, instead sitting on the couch typing away like there is no tomorrow. Blogging is therapeutic to me.

When there are 100 items on your plate, and you have time for only 10, you have to prioritize and only focus on the most important 10 items. The other 90 items can fall through, they will fall through and I should not feel guilty about them.
When prioritizing the items, prioritize them based on what is important to you, how the items fit into the bigger picture, into your long term goals.

Every dog has its day indeed. Sept 2008 I joined Toastmasters. I remember my heart thumping loud when I gave my first speech, nervous to the core. The evaluator said I had almost by-hearted the speech, line by line, which may be was true since I had practiced like 20 times before the speech day. May 6th 2010, I gave my 10th Speech, and got my Competent Communicator Award. I had an idea about the topic for a week, I jotted down points on the flight for 15mins, I practiced thrice 30mins before the speech. That was it! How rewarding the whole experience has been! I have come a long way from when I joined Toastmasters. I served as the VP of Public Relations for a full year, published an article for publicity, organized some sessions, coaxed people into joining Toastmasters among other things.

Now I am moving on to the next stage. I am mentoring someone! Its hard for me to believe that I would be mentoring someone on Toastmasters, public speaking. But here I am! Someone who attended my Inspiring Speech was really inspired and he specifically asked me to be his mentor! I was totally flattered. I hope I live up to his expectations. Really, sincerely. Toastmasters has been something close to my heart and will continue to be. I grew, really grew a lot while attending the sessions, and interacting with people, and giving speeches.

I have not been regular with my runs at all. Struggled on some killer hills yesterday to complete an 8 miler. My endurance has visibly decreased. I cannot afford to miss any more training runs. No more missing runs. The crazy travel at work has come to a stop, only routine travel from now on hopefully, so I will not miss any more runs. Oh! And I am trying to raise some fund for a India non-profit Organization I am running for. So if any of you are interested in donating some funds, and thereby encourage me to run better and faster please let me know, I will risk revealing my true self, if that will brings some funds for a good cause. ;--)

At the pretext of having fun 8mi I just hogged and hogged and hogged all weekend like there is no tomorrow, and hence am feeling lousy now :--( Yes I can feel lousy for the most trivial reasons.

Watched Singam on Friday. How pathetic that being a Surya fan I didnt even know about the movie until a friend told me? It seemed to be a decent movie. I came out of the theater feeling good. The take away from the movie is, yes I have weird take aways from random movies, do your duty well, be sincere in your work, whatever you do.

What else, time to get ready for the week to follow, hope this week turns out better than the previous few weeks. Wish me luck pliss!

Keep up with your toastmasters , SK.In my experience, presentation is a key factor to success.
On a lighter note, just enjoy hogging when you can... Who cares whether you follow it up with a run or not? :-)

    Shoba,
Yes I agree, I realized it a bit too late, but better late than never no?
And hogging... I wish I could enjoy hogging guilt free, but the number of the scale prevents me from enjoying. :--((
