This is probably a repetitive post. But life is a full circle and history does repeat itself. Only at a different time to different people.
I miss home :--(
I read blogs and posts from people in India, they talk about home sweet home. Chennai, with the crowd, the noise, the heat. I can very much recognize this feeling. Because I felt it in July of 2004, when I had been away from home for more than 1.5 years, since Dec 2002. When you have been away for so long, even a tainted picture is polished by warmest of memories.
I visit a blog and they talk about Shopper's Stop, my mind drifts to India. I visit another blog and they talk about Ranganathan Street, and my mind floats away into the past. I used to hate shopping in Ranganathan Street, it was too crowded. But that is exactly what the place is known for.
Do the college kids in India know just how lucky they are that they are staying with their parents, enjoying the cosy comfort of home, cribbing about Laplace Transforms.
I never believed when they said childhood is the best part of your life. I wanted to grow up, in a hurry, get out of home, spread my wings and fly high. Now I wish I could get those innocent carefree days back. Life was so simple with just homeworks to do and exams to give. The rest of the time spent in gossiping and chatting and reading and all the fun things.
I guess its grass is always greener on the other side.
I remember when I left India after my much awaited trip, I was glad to set foot in the US. To have my freedom.
Its been five years since I left Chennai. It has changed so much, I never stayed long enough to take in the new look of Chennai. I am afraid it might hit me hard.
I am afraid the same is going to repeat. Only I cant go to India now. My Visa is expired, and Chennai Consulate appointments are not easy to get. DH cant get vacation. And there is lot of money involved.
I know I need to be in India, breathe the hot Chennai air for only a day and I will be all recharged and reenergized to spend another year here.
Just a day at home. Is it too much to ask? |

Ah, this home sickness :-(! No cure :-(!
Hopefully you will get all the visa/vacation issues sorted out and will be able to fix upon a date so that you can at least start looking forward to it! Hang in there and good luck!
