Boredom and aftermaths
Wednesday, December 06, 2006
Ok, enough.

I have

relaxed enough,
watched movies enough,
browsed enough,
read junk news enough,
read blogs enough,
partied enough,
gossiped enough,
played pranks enough,
TPed enough,
lazed around enough,

now please give me some work!

I am bored of boredom.

Makes me wonder, whatever did I do when I was not working so hard? :-P

As part of getting rid of my boredom, I read a whole article about the good and bad features of MS Vista which is due to be released to masses end of Jan 07. One look at it and I was like "Oh my God, its so much like Mac OS!" Most features, like transparent windows, previews, desktop searches are a total rip off from Mac. Its not only me who thought along those lines apparently, here is a mock video to show exactly how similar Vista is to Mac OS. We know how Apple has these cool interfaces and gadgets, MS seems to have ripped off everything to include in Vista. Software development is all about innovation and creativity, I guess, why copy? Here is a Mac fan's take on Vista.

It is very important to release a product when it is still hot and new, instead of saying 'We came up with this idea first but they implemented it before us'. It is usually difficult when the company is as big the size as MS.

But finally who cares, Vista would reach the masses Apple hasnt reached, nobody cares who ripped off from who, as long as it is accessible and cheap.

With all the obsession with boredom, I forgot to pay my rent! :--( As I said earlier, I am too forgetful and lazy to remember to pay bills. I have a reminder at work 1st of every month to pay the rent. But since I was super jobless the last two days, the reminder popped up only once, which I ignored. It popped up again yesterday when another meeting was due, but I was already a few hours too late. :--( $50 late fee for rent is atrocious I think. I called up the management to see if I can get it waived but no, they wouldnt do that for me. Darn!

As an after effect of feeling guilty, for paying a $50 late fee, I indulged myself, or rather busied myself into making a budget spreadsheet. I read some Budgeting 101 articles, to organize personal finances. The ones I read though seemed to direct to being very stingy. I dont want to be stingy, I just want to spend money wisely. Google spread sheets are fun to use. I was able to create the sheet and invite DH to view and edit it (Poor DH has a lot of ramping up to do in his new role, still took time to indulge). It doesnt have fancy formulae like MS Excel does. But there are other cool things about it, I have just discovered. We were able to have a little discussion on the spread sheet in the same window, and make modifications. The revision history is inplace to retrace back steps.

Side tracking, money is never enough. The more you earn the more you want to spend. DH often says content is a man who can refrain from spending even when he knows he can afford to. DH has apparently attained Nirvana. Mesa yet to.

I need ideas on what can one do, when one is bored of everything around.
If I dont get any new ideas, I am going to flood this page with more boring posts. :--D
But seriously, I plan to enjoy this phase - because soon, I am sure things are going to turn upside down. I better make hay while the sun shines.
