Yet another catch up post. Dont want to stop updating about BSK, since she is growing up so fast!!
We had just returned from F town in the evening, DH was showering, I went out in the backyard with BSK. She immediately when to the plants and started picking the wood chips and playing with it. Usually I would tell her no and pick her up and take her in. But today I decided to let her be. I just sat watching her talking to her, as she played with the wood chips to her hearts content, making a mess. She would put the wood chips inside the watering can, and look inside, putting her nose in, then dump it out, I just say down admiring her. So what if she gets messy, so what if she makes a mess, after all she is a baby, and that is how she is supposed to be.
The past few weekends we have been out, doing something or the other. We went to SF to cheer AID runners at the Marathon event. It was nostalgic. It was so cold! BSK had a runny nose. A friend stayed over and was with us for the weekend. BSK warmed up to her so much! Last weekend friends from Ftown visited impromptu, and we had so much fun catching up. Their daughter is only 3 months elder to BSK. BSK hit it off well with the daughter, she was sooo happy to see her. It is a reminder for us to get BSK around kids her own age. We ate at Saravana Bhavan and Ammas. We went for a 3.5mi hike in Coyote hills, the toddlers cooperated.
This weekend we visited Ftown for a baby shower and once again stayed at friends place. I forgot how hot Ftown was! Super hot. Fremont is still cold in the evenings, I can never put tank tops or shorts on BSK, she has a perpetual runny nose. We went to a park in the evening where BSK and E played on the grass. Today morning we went to a park with a small water fall and creek, BSK was in her swimsuit for the first time ever, gifted by a good friend for her birthday. She had fun in the water. It was so hot we had to have icecream. Went to a complex which was only very familiar in my mind, there was one store closed which I realized was Borders where we had spent many a weekends studying for gmat and chatting up with friends.
Friend A fed food to both E and BSK, each alternating. Both dinner last night and lunch today. I loved it. It is hard to get such friends I think.
Whenever people ask me how I like the bay area, yes I like it, but I still miss Ftown, only for the friends. We all started life at the same time. Got married at the same time, many bought houses and settled down at around the same time. Now Ftown is buzzling with baby news. Lots of girls that too. BSK would have had such a huge group of friends, like I did. But lot of peer pressure too I guess.
It is not easy to uproot and start a life midway. Yes there is a superb bunch of friends we have here, but it is not the same as there. I should say it differently. Both are unique and memorable in their own way.
I saw what was coming in the next three months watching E. She is climbing on center tables, couches, running hay wire, talking nineteen to a dozen. I saw how BSK was interacting with her, she seems like a social butterfly just like DH. The dynamics were too cute to watch.
This week is going to be a tough one. I have to do an overnight trip to Oregon for a work conference. And I am feeling bad already. I thought I will never ever stay away from BSK even for a night until she turns 17 :--P Well atleast try. But, this came along. Tonight as I put her to sleep, saw her peaceful sleeping face, she had slept hugging me with her one leg on me. I will miss her even if it is for a day. Miss you pattu, berry berry much.
I guess I havent talked about BSK's antics at all. Well, may be next post.

PS: This is the couple we made this trip and this trip ( I didnt write about the 22odd miles we hiked in 3 days) with. How times have changed! We grew up together almost. |

ooh lady buzz me next time u r around...would love to meet up! I've only lived in Sac/FM area since I came to the US from India....13 years and counting now....I don't think I can settle anywhere else (other than San Diego coz I have family there and the beaches...oh the beaches ;))

Nice updates :-) So, 17 ha? Mommy will go to all the tween/teen sleepovers with BSK.. hmm.. OK, that sounds like a plan :P
