The last two days have been so exhausting, I feel like a whole week is over actually.
Monday morning, 6:50, I get a call from a 510 number. I was standing in the kitchen, waiting for the cooker to whistle, getting milk, coffee and tea (gee, how diverse can we be) for BSK, DH and myself, ready. I have half a mind to ignore, but i take it just out of curiosity. Happens to be a friend I have known from FTown, but living here close by. We had been talking about carpooling to work. We cannot be more suited to carpool.
We are from FTown so start working at 8:30 and are done by 5, unlike, ahem, rest of Bay Area :--P We work in the same building, same floor. Live like 4 streets away, 3 mi by road. Both sick of driving alone too.
We talked about car pooling and decided to try it out after I was back from my vacation, and then something happened I did have her number, or forgot to call, and it didnt happen until this Monday.
I was excited to try it out.
7:35, I was out of the house, let us call the friend S, she picked me up sharp. We zooooooooooooomed through the traffic, pointing and laughing at the suckers on regular lanes, were at work at record time 30mins.
Evening I had a 4-5 mtg, which dragged on and on until at 5:40 I just ditched the meeting, and left. I hate those that cannot anticipate how long a meeting can take and stick to the timing. If you think it will take 2hrs allot 2 hrs. It is my biggest pet peeve. The site being filled with Indians I can only expect so much.
So again evening it took around 40-45mins, major back up in the inside roads. Highway was conquered in 15mins! Still I was home only at 6:30 or so.
Performance review time at work and guess what boss does not give any grace time to finish the review and on top of it dumps a high profile meeting to prepare for the next day. So I end up taking the review call in the evening 8-10PM! Poor DH. He feeds, bathes and puts BSK to sleep. And I never got time to spend with BSK.
On top of it DH had some sort of food poisoning, from eating my spinach dhal :--( Still not sure why it happened. To spare you of all the gory details, DH threw up at 11:30, ate a banana, threw that up and didnt sleep until 3:30 when he had some milk and dozed off at 4. Oops I just realized I gave you all the gory details :--P
So he left to work late, sleeping in, letting BSK also sleep in. But I had this meeting I had to prepare for so as usual left at 7:35. I was supposed to leave at 7:30, but then after I let the water boil for 5mins before reaching for Maggie for BSK, I realized there was no Maggie. So I had to keep the cooker anyway. 5mins does matter in the mornings.
Again carpool was suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper. I guess only someone like me who has to sit in traffic for 2hrs can appreciate carpool. I was at work at 8:15 as I picked up S and we were on the road at 7:45.
Again my 4-5 meeting went over until 5:30. Gee. 6:15 I dropped S and came home in 10mins.
BSK was picked up by DH on both days. DH came home early because of lack of sleep. I also was sleepy, had headache, stress? different kind of stress, dealing with people, politics.
Dinner, I made some green beans, I felt like eating Rotis, but there were no Rotis. Sent DH to the Indian store for some Rotis and Maggie. Thank god for Indian store being a stone's throw away. BSK ate green beans and yogurt while DH ate the left over rice that BSK refused to have.
Slept off early. Didnt feel like going to work today. Still need to get the performance review written. No longer is performance just based on performance but it is also based on how much the boss understands about what you do, which I doubt in this case. So I had to prod another colleague, to give feedback to boss's boss in case boss misses something.
Anyway. I have many things planned for today. Blogging was one of them. Then some cooking may be, workout, performance review, some TV?, some mtgs to help some folks, that seems to have filled my calendar, and of course my own work which is blocked, I need to help folks to get unblocked.
And today is just Wednesday.

Carpools make life easier, but I always liked driving alone. Perhaps because that's the only time I have to switch between work and home?

Wow.....that sounds like my work week so far SK! I wonder why we make our life so complicated really (Even with work, if you really thin about it, it need not be this critical, this demanding and stressful. It can be simple, clean and be done in a good hard-working fashion)

Yes sometimes it is nice to drive alone, sometimes chatterbox company gives you a break too :--) I car pool 3 -4 days a week so I do get some time off to myself too.
Saumya, ah! i dont know how you are managing maam! I am going crazy here lol.
