| PS: I think I am behind by a day, not sure if I can try to make up.
Today was a rest day in our trek. That doesn't mean you get to sleep all day. Instead we went for a 'short' hike 400m elevation (1200+ft) to acclimatize. I don't think I am acclimatizing well. I have all symptoms of AMS ( Acute Mountain Sickness), although mild. No appetite, breathless with less exertion, a little dizzy at times, even was nauseous last night. Last night was bad, couldn't sleep. I didn't think I could get out of the room in the morning.
We saw Mt Lothse, 4th tallest peak in the world at 8500odd meters. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Mt Everest was not ready for us to see today, was hiding behind clouds.
I will definitely write more in detail about the trip once I am back if I finish it. Honestly I don't think I can. I am taking one day at a time. We are at 3400m (12000ft ) altitude. Feel suffocated. I don't know if I can go up. Will take it one day at a time. As I mentioned I am the weakling in the group, terribly slow, each step hurts my feet. And altitude sickness too. Not sure when the helicopter will take me down.
Oh! Also today is our 10th wedding anniversary ;--)) DH got identical looking sorta wedding rings. Neither of us wear rings. A small moment of happiness which lifted my spirits. It was my plan to trek for our anniversary. Now I am rethinking. I am largely low on energy and spirits, just too worried about everything that can go wrong. I feel all this trekking is not for me. As I said mind wishes, body refuses. Almost crying as I write this.
Until later. |
