| Jamba folks.
After some moping and depression, all is well in SK land. Mostly happy because I was able to get a SIM card and put it in my unlocked phone! Yeehaw!
Nairobi so far.. Is like any regular city in India. It has decent roads, buses and street vendors like in Trichy. I am still kinda scared clutching my bag wherever I go. So far people we have interacted with have been super nice. The hotel is a five star awesome hotel with all great amenities. In fact we are going to spend some time by the pool, to beat off sleep.
Inside Out is the cutest most meaningful movie I have seen in a while. I cried buckets when Riley cried. I also understood why I am sad so much etc etc. such a great movie! May Joy always be the ruler in your headquarters!
I touched a country/ city I never in my life imagined to touch. Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. Had a connection there.
Let me take a minute back here and realize where I am. In Africa! A continent I have never ever set foot on. I was going to rely on our leader who is American but I realize we Indians will be able to help out better in the area. We were advised not to venture out too far in the city alone after dark. In face I could almost pass for a Kenyan may be ;--P
Here is a pic on top of Ethiopia and one on top of Kenya. Super flat! And empty. And dry.
It is so fascinating to observe people. African people you think are super dark and kinda stubby. Ethiopians had a different look. I could see Arab/Muslim influence of sharp thin noses with a dark skin. Sorry if I am judging but it is interesting to observe how people look different based on their neighbors. I was hoping to see Mt Kilimanjaro from the flight but I was expecting too much. :--P
1 Kenyan Shilling is like .01$. Similar to Nepal rupees. We bought a SIM card for 1$.
We will be driving out to a smaller town in the morning. I hear it is going to be a bumpy road with no street lights. And there is a landmark on the way that I am excited about. Will share tomorrow. This hotel has good internet. Not sure about the next days in a slightly smaller city. God help me with my jetlag. I am 100% sure I will be the last to get over Jetlag.
--- Also wanted to document, software update 7.0 on Mia came through the day I was leaving. That didn't stop me from updating and going for a test drive. Auto steering! While still in Beta stage, super exciting to see Mia steer itself, and change lanes too! Apparently the cars are learning and sharing information within the Tesla network of cars so they will get better with time. Machine learning, mind boggling. I didn't get a chance to try out Auto parallel parking. Why does Elon send major updates when I am out of town?! New UI on the dashboard is just the cherry on top making me feel like I got a new car all over again.
That's it. Bye! |
