We put up the lights on the patio and the Christmas tree. The tree needs more decoration. The lights reflecting from all the glass windows looked sparkly. It certainly lifted my spirits. It was exciting to see the lights on our patio from the road. Simple pleasures.

Some other simple pleasures that come to my mind on this cheery Monday morning:
* Waking up in the morning and realizing you can sneak in a few more minutes of sleep before the alarm rings. Those few minutes are heavenly, the best part of the sleep. * The weighing scale showing a decent number for a change, not giving a heart attack, inspite of having stuffed myself with scones and cookies at Borders, at the pretext of reading. * Dinner made by DH, while I happily browse my way to glory. Happens not very often, be assured. * Being woken out of sleep by DH, who sneaks into bed with me for a few minutes, fully dressed, before leaving. A tug at the heart, "Please dont go!", sweet pain. * DH for a change suggesting ornaments to buy for the Xmas tree, inspite of the tags with exorbitant prices. DH is finally seeing the glees of shopping. * Call from a friend, who I thought had forgotten me. * Compliments! Ladies complimenting my outfit, and my earrings. And a friend's fiance complimenting our cosy home on the same day. I was on cloud nine. * Finally, snuggling in the Papasan Chair early morning with a hot cuppa chai, blogging about nothings. Bliss.
Yesterday, my mind was set to work overtime. A lady cried at the church, for her daughter was diagnosed with brain tumor recently. My heart went out to her. We have so many complaints about life, all petty and insignificant. We worry about so many things, money, relations, weight(!!), work, future, and so on. We plan our lives so carefully, but we never know what is in store for us. We watched 'Katradhu Tamizh' yesterday. Sparkie mentioned the movie to us when he was here. The movie may have many drawbacks, I dont care about them. What stuck me was this poor litte boy who faced many deaths at a very young age. One minute you are happy, planning the next 20 30 years, and the next minute, the world might turn upside down. It hit me really hard. I am reminded of one of Kabir ke dhohe, learnt long time back in school. "Kaal kare so aaj kar, aaj kare so ab. Pal me paralai hoyegee, bahuree karega kab" Me being the master procastinator, this is a big lesson for me. Never postpone anything, even being happy, feeling thankful, feeling blessed, asking sorry. If you love someone let them know, tomorrow may bring a wave of change.
Have a great week. |
