"No no no no, I cannot wake up now, I should not!!" I struggled to keep my eyes closed and pulled that slumber close to me dragging it towards me and not letting it go. Time was 6:30AM Sunday.

But body clock does its thing and I lie there eyes merely closed, sleep far away, headache slowly creeping into the nooks of the head.

Sigh! So much for partying... for staying late Saturday. Till 1:30AM.

This is the longest pre-Christmas Party we have had in a long time. I deliberately kept the time at 5PM so that I hoped we could wrap by 9, latest 10 and everyone can sleep peacefully. But SK proposes, God and friends dispose.

This was also a party at very short notice, plan germinated last weekend at yet another get-together, Dosa Feed at a friend's whose parents were visiting. In the midst of mouthfuls of yummy home made Masala Dosas, Adais, Pongal and Thayir vadai with appropriate accompaniment, friend I wanted a party this weekend because she was not going to be here on Christmas Day when I usually host my Annual Christmas Dinner. :--P Yep I have been doing it for 4-5 years now consistently, so it deserves to be capitalized.

The week progressed and things got oober busy and this plan was forgotten until Wednesday when friend I reminded me with an email. "Are we on for Sat?" This short but powerful email set forth a bunch of ideas and planning in motion. White Elephant Christmas Party on Saturday at our place. Thursday evening emails were sent out, thus far the quickest turnaround I should say at such short notice.

Responsibilities were given out for food, main courses, appetizers, desserts, drinks and as is conventional with A.I.D, plates and cups! Plastic is a no no.

Saturday came by quickly, evening even more quickly, people trickled in right from 4:45, which is quite a miracle given the group always follows I.S.T, Indian Stretchable Time. Tables were set, Gifts for the White Elephant Exchange put under the Tree, all newspaper wrapped, tree huggers that we are.

Of course people were trickling in until way past 8. One friend was coming all the way from SF. Since Gift Exchange cannot be done unless everyone is around, a very competitive game of Pictionary ensued. God! How long has it been since we played board games! Not in the past couple of years. The game dragged on and on and some point we decided to abandon the game for food.

Food was a pretty quick affair with yummy appetizers beforehand. Desserts were taken to the center of the circle of folks, as White Elephant game started. DH got quite creative with the game and came up with his own rules which made the game pretty interesting and a lot of fighting. As always is the case, many were happy with what they got, many more, not so much. Some strategies were also made between people to cater to their own gift wish. The gifts were supposed to funny, and God! do people have crazy view of funny! The funniest gift prize went to U, who got what we called the Butt Man.

After the game people once again split up into groups, sitting on the couch, standing in the kitchen, while second round of Chai was made by DH. S and H started playing tunes on the keyboard. It was about 10. Sleep did come and push my eyelids close, but a cup of Chai woke me up. When the keyboard players moved to dragging classical tunes, I realized the only way to atleast stop them would be to start a game of Taboo.

So once again we all assembled by the Tree, played Taboo for a couple of rounds. When it ended, it was midnight. Some friends left. Few stayed behind. This time people just lay on the couch, and on the floor, talking about anything and everything, home buying, market, police, 911, tickets, Euphoria concert and on and on and on.

1:30. Everyone decided their Saturday evening was well spent and decided to call it a night.

It was 2AM when my head hit the bed, but sleep abandoned me for I dont know how long.

Its 11:30AM, DH is having his second round of blissful sleep, while I failed badly at resuming sleep, came down to cater to my grumbling stomach and decided to write a post.

Sunday comes with a lot of to-dos with Xmas and an impending vacation next week - shopping, planning, some work, some non work work, church and some rest too.

Aren't Holidays fun? Inspite of the head that is throbbing with ache due to lack of sleep?
Gee, I don't want Monday to come tomorrow.
Monday Monday go away, come again another day, not so little SK wants to laze...
