| Dont waste a long weekend! |
| Monday, February 21, 2011 |
I didnt want Friday night to end. Nor Saturday night. Nor Sunday night for that matter. Every day's end meant getting one day closer to going to work.
A few friends came over, rather invited themselves over to watch the first India match in the World Cup. They came in at half past 12. I insisted to be woken up when they came, DH tried to wake me up but apparently I scolded him to get lost. Then I tried to catch some sleep but failed miserably with the guys downstairs chattering non stop. Went down to some hot Chai and snacks at 4 in the morning. More chattering. The Half Marathon training is starting again, and Coach specifically wanted me to talk to the newbies looks like to motivate and inspire them, but having been up all night, decided to do it the next time around.
Saturday was a dull, rainy day, fit to go under covers with something hot and spicy. DH and I left to Borders to check out some books and boy! the store closing crowd and super long check out lines were enough to get us out of there dropping the two books we picked. It was quite sad to see the place as an untidy mess. The Cafe was closed, the book racks were a disarrayed mess. Though I havent spent too much time at this Borders, I have spent a lot of time in F-town, studying for GMAT, and interviews, met up with friends and even finished full books just sitting at the store.
Sunday, caught up with some sleep, and spent some time at BabiesRUs researching on various baby stuff, strollers, car seats, cribs, mattresses, bouncers, swings, feeding bottles etc etc. It is indeed a whole new world in itself. Bought Halal Chicken from a Middle East shop which of way better than the stuff got from Safeway or anywhere. Searched for some good recipes. This Christmas a good friend came home and made Biriyani which was so so so out of the world, I decided to try Biriyani often and perfect the recipe. Lately have been feeling a little concerned about whether the baby would like my cooking or not. We all have a soft corner for home food, Mom's food. If I want little SK to feel the same about my food, I have to make some serious amendments and learn a LOT. So I made Chicken Biriyani and Mangalorean Chicken Curry. The Curry came out totally awesome. This website has some 30 different varieties of Chicken curries!! Rest assured I have book marked it. The Biriyani I have some lessons learnt, will improvise next time around. But the Halal Chicken really made a huge difference.
Monday basically decided to sleep in and make the best use of the last day of holiday. Got little work done, after ignoring all the email over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, got down to tackling them. Watched some TV, played some poker, cooking some dishes, went for a long walk and poof! its evening already!
I am glad I spent this long weekend doing absolutely what I felt like, lazing around. For I hear, this is just the calm before the storm. A is three months senior to me in pregnancy and she just gave birth to her daughter. Somehow this has confirmed that its all real, the time in nearing, next its my turn. Litte SK has been kicking so much, she feels all the more real. Touch wood, everything should go fine. |
