Where have I disappeared? In the mundaneness of life and mommyhood.
Over the past few weeks many time I have wondered if really I am capable of being a mommy or not. But I guess there is no going back, it is part of experiencing a full life, everything has ups and downs no?
Let me jot down the happy things that make me feel life is not so bad after all.
BSk is talking way too much. She was stringing two -three words but recently she has moved on to four-five words. She can say she is in pain. "BSK kaal vachicha" "BSK amma kai thala vachicha (valikkardhu)" (my hand had accidentally stuck on her head and apparently it hurt her!) Last night I think she had some gas, she cried saying, BSK tummy vachicha!
She has started her terrible twos. Tantrums, fussiness, violence (!!) makes me wonder if I am doing my job right.
She gets a lot of timeouts. Now she knows, "throw panna?" "timeout" And can say "appa no timeout"
She can get the verbs - "paathen", "saapten", "ponen", "walk/run/sit/stand/sleep panren" oh how can I forget "venumaa"
we ask her "mumum venuma, water venuma" so whenever she wants something she goes "doggy venuma, puppy venuma"
She knows dirty diaper, clean diaper. She knows clothes are dirty when she spills food on them.
She surprised me by knowing the difference between "innoru" (another one) and "vera" (different one), "vera dress podren, innoru biscuit venuma" and she can say 'different' which she picked up from day care.
She picked up "give me" from day care too. Give me appa give me.
I dont know how she learnt 'shatham' When she doesnt like the mixie sound or cooker sound, she comes to me and huge me saying "amma no shatham"
Did I say she has severe stranger anxiety? I was with her at the park the other day, it was a beautiful day to be out so I took her straight from the day care. She was playing the slide when mom of another kid went near her. Within ear shot of the mom, she went, "no aunty, no aunty" with a scrunched up face! The mom took it well and said "ok I am not coming near you"
She continues to love animals. I took her to Happy Hallow one weekend that DH was working and there she saw meerkat among other animals. The animals was bobbing its head side to side, looking and it caught BSK's fancy. What does a meerkat do? and she immediately turns her head to the side with a grin on her face. So cute.
Feeding time we have to feed all the animals in the house, horsey, tiger, zoo-man (from lego zoo), baby (a doll with long hair), teddy, puppy, sigh! And then she may or may not open her mouth. Frustration central!
She knows where all her favorite food items are. She will go to the fridge for cheese, bubeii, and to the counter for "bichit".
Today madame managed to buckle herself in the changing pad. Dear god. she has been obsessed with buckles at the car seat and high chairs.
Poor child has been in pain and sickness for the past couple weeks. She just recovered when the molars sprung up putting her in more pain. Hopefully she will get better soon and this too shall pass.
Parenting is getting tougher as she grows to be an independant person with her own wishes, and thoughts. And I can see it is only going to be more complicated going forward!
