| Tengboche is heaven. At 3800m, it is surrounded by clouds and snow capped mountains. You also get an amazing view of Mt Everest. We were extremely tired getting to Tengboche, it was a 600m climb uphill, after 4 hours of walking up and down.
We stayed there while returning as well. Picked a lodge relatively safe, not destroyed by earthquake.
Touch wood, we are in good spirits. It is amazing to say the least to experience Nepal, Sherpas hospitality. Life goes on. When life is simple, things don't affect you that much. Don't put so much importance on material things. Life is simple. If it is your time you will die, if it is not, you will survive, don't try to stop things from happening.
Seen so many damaged homes, heard of deaths, walked with fear of dying, slept with fear of dying. Have to write a book ;-p
In Lukla right now. Indian Air Force came to rescue only Indians. We had a Malaysian woman with us and our Nepali guide. Didn't seem fair. We are waiting for our flight out tomorrow.
Foreigners, especially Americans think they are Gods and they need to be rescued first. Our guide's home is destroyed, and he is still helping us out looking out for us.
Will leave with a picture of heaven. Pictures can not do justice. Hope to get back to Chennai soon. Weather should cooperate.
