Indulgence
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Sprawled on the couch after a long day, frustrated with something at work, chiding self for always, every single time, choosing the most unfavorable of times to give a speech, decide to call DH who is on his way home after a later than usual meeting.

"DH, enakku pasta saapadnum pola irukku" (I feel like eating pasta) I almost whisper, waiting for his reaction. Guilt of having had a mini meal after returning from work, shows its ugly little head out, which is quickly rather hurriedly shoved and smothered under the pillow of desire. Of course I know DH never says no to anything I say. But still. I said this after I made him cut (or pluck) the cauliflower last night so I can cook early today. But with no enthu to cook, reason being all the stuff on the earlier paragraph, I wait for a snicker or a chuckle from DH.

"What?" He is driving and he cannot hear me well.

I repeat.

And there, I hear the familiar chuckle.

After we discuss the logistics, we decide to order a take out from the nearest Chili's.

Finally DH adds, " Molten chocolate cake-um sollalama?"

And I thought I was the one itching to indulge!

DH rings the bell, with take out in his hand. I open the door, and snatch the order from him right away. We dig our forks into the single order, Dh still in his work clothes of full sleeved shirt all tucked in too, and I savor each and every penne of pasta. Delicious! When I am done satisfying my taste buds, its DH's turn to dig into the Molten Chocolate Cake. I microwave the delicious cake with filling in the middle like a volcano. The cake comes out of the microwave oven like an active volcano ready to erupt, bubbling. DH and I get busy decorating the cake with fudge and caramel, finally top it with the vanilla icecream.

I had a few bites. But really it was DH's turn to indulge.

Finally, I can proudly claim, we are weaned of Indian food mania, since moving to Bay Area.

PS: Really? Can I really prepare for speech with pasta and hot molten chocolate in my tummy? What is tomorrow morning for? What is life if not for a few indulgences and a few outliers? I will worry about that meeting and that report and that darned speech tomorrow morning.
